As Petek quoted buster, "Earlier posts , file uploads, images and the wiki will be kept accessible as an archive as long as some interest is still there." My point is that buster's move should be seen as a step that increases the longevity of CGN's content.

While I have no problem with mirroring CGN's content (speaking for my contribution only), I wouldn't be overly concerned about the database. Read-only actually reduces the risk of an overwrite or deletion. And buster needs only make a back-up once and store the back-up in a safe location for...

Premature. My understanding is that CGN will be read only for the indefinite future. The content will remain accessible. By eliminating new registrations and most posts (site feedback remains open for existing members to voice their opinion about CGN's change), the site owner, buster, can devote...

    Maintenance problems.

Handling conquered bases is a fine point. (1) If a facility isn't cost effective, you can sell one facility/base/turn. Be sure to examine where a facility is redundant because you have the corresponding Secret Project. (2) Bases can be ceded to an ally, eliminating maintenance cost (and...

How do I create a faction with the Mac version.

Sorry, I've been busy. If you use a text editing program, there is no difference creating factions for Mac and the PC and any faction created can be used on both platforms. I do not believe that the faction editing program that comes with the PC version of AC exists for the Mac.

:goodjob: If that is the first pic you attached in the post above, I thought it was a plant bulb that had grown tendrils wrapping around the slanted beam. That's great. :) What was the old city? That sounds like a good idea. Great! :goodjob: New PCX looks good! :)

Good luck! :) :goodjob: Think small. I think it is a good idea after you release the gold version. All (!) that would be required would be changing the faction bonuses and penalties so it would balance with normal SMAX. The artwork and text would remain the same.

    Worth buying?

If you have run out of places to expand and every base is building facilities, the maintenance cost can skyrocket in a few turns, especially if you aren't micromanaging what each base is building.

    Worth buying?

If you were building facilities in your bases, there might be a maintenance cost associated with them. Since small bases don't produce much income (especially if they are far from HQ), this would result in the loss of income. I assume you are building colony units to create your bases. Each...

    Worth buying?

Of course, a rioting base doesn't produce energy. In addition, if you are using doctors to balance the drones, you lose the energy those doctor citizens could have been producing as workers or other specialists. If you rush build drone control facilities, their maintenance cost will affect...

It is very hot. Tomorrow is suppose to be 99 degrees Fahrenheit or 37 degrees Celsius. You know my philosophy. Do a little at a time, but be consistent.

As a Civ fan, some things will seem familiar. However, SMAC is a lot more "expansive." The designers of SMAC had designed Civ 2 and "pushed the envelope" in SMAC. This includes the unit workshop, which allows players to customize units, extreme terraforming and psionic combat in addition to...
