Civ4 had a Terra script (I don't remember if Civ5 had it as well?), where all Civs would start on an "old World" continent, with an extra, empty continent across the ocean.
Heh, third time/place posting this, but Horses aren't visible from start anymore, they're revealed by Animal Husbandry.
EDIT: was reading wrong patch notes, this change is documented but is valid only in GS games.
I played just the first 20-ish turns before coming to work, but I noticed Horses aren't visible from start, and are now being revealed by Animal Husbandry.
You get the bonus when the trade route is completed - when it does a certain number of travels back and forth, and you get control of the trader again.
I've been trying the worker-settler thing over the weekend, and it is good indeed. But (even on king, the difficult I usually play) sometimes you'll have 2+ barb warriors, maybe a slinger, coming for you before you get the Craftsmanship Inspiration, specially in coastal or heavy woods/jungle...
That... actually blew my mind a little :P Guess I was so used to fight the barbs off I never thought to let them be at all :P
There's an issue though, in that I think it's still risky running early trade routes (specially from your 2nd city) with camps still active around your capital... Am I...
One thing that i'm thinking about trying is fitting a Scout after the first settler, as they'll probably be very fast to build by then and teh warrior + slingers should be enough to scout towards a second city location.
To all the people going builder-settler, how do you go exploration- and...
I'm on King, and I can't cope with barbs unless I build 1-2 Slingers very early, and sometimes an extra Warrior as well. I didn't usually build Monuments in my capital, and I've experimenting building them first or second, I'm still unsure if it's good or not; if I find an early second continent...
I've just moved, so there's plenty of cleaning & unpacking before Thursday... And also Carnaval's beginning!! I'll probably start a game or two, but mostly I'll be on the street dancing & drinking until next Tuesday :P
