    Game breaking bug...

That's a bug that has been reported years ago and still hasn't been fixed. The only solution is to load a previous game save. This time, before you trade it, set something (anything) in the production queue. Problem solved. It's annoying, especially if you have to redo a turn or two, but...

Graphics and Memory Problems with Civ and BE

I recently burned through my second Nvidia display adapter over several years of Civ playing. This latest one I've had for 3 years. Maybe Nvidia undercools them, but it's inarguable that Civ's engine is very hard on it. There's a lot of heat after just an hour or so of playing. And, I...

    Firaxis announces "Sid Meier's Starships"

There is a vast difference between composition (or direction) and performance. A composer or a maestro can't necessarily pick up an instrument and begin cranking out tunes at the same level as a member of the symphony; an architect or a construction foreman can't pick up a welder or electrical...

    Firaxis announces "Sid Meier's Starships"

Actually, it does. I typically play on small maps and thus unless i go into advanced setup and add more leaders, there are only 6 in the game, with 2 more leaders. Furthermore, there are a TON of other leaders available via the workshop. I think it's over 20 now. I wouldn't have thought of...

    Firaxis announces "Sid Meier's Starships"

The feeling I get from reading the in-game lore is that Earth did seed multiple planets. I think the duplication of BE leaderheads is a necessary abstraction. Each colony would be lead by a leader with similar characteristics (resulting in the same gameplay), so the only duplication is really...

    Firaxis announces "Sid Meier's Starships"

If they haven't settled plans on a BE expansion or DLC it's not because they haven't bothered to plan out their workload/product schedule. It's much more likely they're waiting to see the baseline sales of BE to project the sales curve of those potential future products.

Surveys do a pretty good job at reporting the opinions of people who respond to surveys. ;)

We're on the same page. I agree with your evaluation of the "typical" tablet game. I guess I'm hoping (beyond hope? fingers crossed) that Starships breaks that mold.

    Firaxis announces "Sid Meier's Starships"

I agree with all this. And, I would add, I think people are imagining CIV or CiV ported as is to the tablet. The main challenge there isn't the interface, or the functionality, but the extensive 3D modeling. It results in a game with huge required graphic files (= big download on tablets)...

What leads you to those conclusions? (simple game, just can't get that experience)

    Firaxis announces "Sid Meier's Starships"

Not for me. Tablets are the future of turn-based / 4X games. Multiplayer is much easier to do, and to do well. There's the potential for much more $, which means more/better development and support, which are the main criticisms people are voicing, so I'd think most people would welcome a...

    Firaxis announces "Sid Meier's Starships"

That's why you'd be crazy to actually go into an asteroid field. The possibility of successfully navigating an asteroid field is approximately three thousand, seven hundred, and twenty to one. :w00t:

seems rare to start with Fireaxite nearby

I've noticed on most mapscripts, Firaxite tends to occur mostly in tundra near the poles.

    ? on Scrambled nations pack

I actually play most of my games that way, regardless of map. (Adding more AIs.) It increases interaction and makes for a more enjoyable game.
