Thats an interesting scenario. I guess if I am losing the culture war (and therefore many tiles) to my two strongest opponents, then its time to pick on the weak guy and beat him up. I have a defensive pact with the strongest and the other one is trading well with me.
I guess the it...
Thanks to all.
I do seem to lose these culture battles and therefore my resources on a regular basis. As I say, I am hemmed in by the 2 strongest AI oppenents and they are squeezing me dry !!!
I always try and ramp up the culture but lose the culture battle in the long run. its becoming a...
Yeah - I must admit I always hesitate too much before I eventually go to war ?? The city that lost the oil deposit is cranking out +48 culture/refined per turn. I dont know what more I can build there ??
I do seem to be hemmed in by two powerful neighbors in this game ?? They are crushing me...
Having played a few games at Warlord I find that later in the game (about 1900's) the resources like oil, aliminium and uranium are very important. I find that if I have oil or aliminium near an AI opponents border it will often get 'taken' by an expanding city.
I keep my culture up and my...
Thanks everyone
Some usefull points at the end of the thread there. I tend to go to war later in the game when all the land is gone and I have expanded as much as I can so that the map is covered with cities and my neighbors are right up against me.
more round
I couldnt agree more with...
OK,
I understand where you are coming from but I have an issue with the capture/razing. If I capture the city it tends to go into revolt (or I have about 3-4 turns till it does), so I cant build anything etc.
After about 4/6/8 etc turns depending on certain factors ( I am not sure what exactly...
Hi,
I have played a few CIV 4 games and am doing OK but I have an issue with the capture of cities etc.
I decide to go to war as all the land is taken and the only way to expand is take it from my neighbours. Having got an army together I plan to take out a couple of cities from the...
I think I see where I have gone wrong. If I am not mistaken then an airfield can be built on a mine square and no penalty is taken (if it is an irrigated square than u lose the improvement ??). Just feeding the fighters into a city is, well just that !!!
The SAM's werent Vets. Just a quick...
.... or how to be really frustrated !!
Having now managed to get a game through to modern warfare I find that I have hit a new learning curve - not suprisingly, I suppose.
I find the AI uses bombers a lot - a real lot !! Getting nowhere I searched these wonderful forums for advice and as...
I did have a few goes at Chieftain level and I am doing better now so not too many whoopings !!
With most new games you can start and in the 'middle' or normal settings and get on straight away but Civ3 needs a good few sessions at the very low levels before you get used to the concepts etc...
Thanks. The war article is a bit 'heavy' at the moment but I will keep it next to me for future reference.
I get to the stage where I have no more room and my economy is slow and therefore my research etc. is slow. I think Ill try diplomacy first and then try and beat someone up !!
Wools
OK I have now found the preferences screen !!!! Told you I was new. I guess the pause option helps you take stock after each turn so that you can plan the next go ??
One thing I have found frustrating is that I am always slow to expand ( I am getting better) and find that I am 5-10 or so...
I hadnt thought of that but now you mention it, it makes perfect sense. I am playing on the second lowest difficulty as you are right - it is one of the hardest games that I have had to learn. I have abandoned more civ3 games after getting soundly thrashed than I care to mention.
I have...
Hi,
I am new to CIV3 and learning all the time. I have only just bought the CIV 3 complete edition and tend to get creamed on the higher levels. I am currently playing on the second highest difficulty (Warlord I think) and have come across a problem when I add items to the production...
