    I already do that, most games I play I stop before the actual end of the game. Playing a smaller map is an option indeed and I should try that a few times. Otherwise I should stick to some good scenario's, like the WWII scenario included with civilization II.

    But honestly, think about gameplay! Where is the fun if your single tank unit can walk over thousands of spearman? Currently the game is fun because you usually win if you attack a weak spearman with your new-built tank. It's not a certainty though, so it's still exciting and makes you feel good...
