If you reject the concept of choice(aka humans are behavioral beings, not actors) then totalitarianism is the answer, not a couple of ethical laws

    Musings on tax as theft

This does nothing to differentiate the state from the mafia/racketeering enterprise.

    Musings on tax as theft

    Preference is ordinal, not cardinal

    Musings on tax as theft

That is not part of the definiton of state..

    Musings on tax as theft

Thats what ownership is. The guy with the biggest club to enforce ownership owns the subjects in question. Hence the duality of state and capitalism. As without a state the "biggest club" wouldnt exist, hence property rights wouldnt be possible to define. This is all descriptive of course, the...

    Musings on tax as theft

You cant steal something that you already own beforehand. And the fact is, for practical purposes government owns all the land and capital you use in their jurisdiction, though they realize that increasing their capital value and future revenue can be achieved by allowing people to "rent" it...

why has the rest of the world singularly failed to take libertarianism seriously??

The very fact that land is scarce is the reason why homesteading is necessary in the first place! The assumption of land homesteading being theft violates the universality principle, so cannot be a just rule(or if it doesnt - assumes equal ownership by everyone of everything, it is merely...

why has the rest of the world singularly failed to take libertarianism seriously??

OP: you needn't worry about brining policy change through political method(and really, thats what the political discussion on this forum circles about). Most hardcore misesians / libertarians have abandoned this, from rothbard's post-neoliberal disappointment in the early 90ies onwards...
