    Increased Tile Yields Mod

v4 looks very interesting. Was planning on trying it last night but my monitor decided it was a good time to fail... :( Will definitely try it or any later version in a couple of days though...

    Increased Tile Yields Mod

Thanks for this mod! This makes the game so much more enjoyable to play on slower speeds. I think tech needs to be slowed somewhat, I've only played a bit, but I went back to the production only version, simply because my empire seemed to snowball a bit and research times started to come...

    Diplomacy details

Third screenshot in the post you replied to. Do miss the diagram with all the lines on it though...

What's the use of cooperation and secrecy in diplomacy?

But we don't know. You could make nice to a civ in Civ IV and they would still attack you, that didn't mean that giving them tribute etc. hadn't helped, it just meant that other reasons overbalanced your friendly acts - even if you had no negative modifiers, unless you reached a certain...

What's the use of cooperation and secrecy in diplomacy?

You don't know that. You know that you have been attacked by a friendly Civ. That is useful data - it shows that friendliness does not overrule all other reasons when deciding whether to go to war - but it doesn't say anything about the chances of this happening. There do seem to be other...

What's the use of cooperation and secrecy in diplomacy?

I like the diplomacy model in Civ IV. It was counter-intuitive and extremely mechanical, but it did make sense it its own terms, and it allowed the player who understood it to manipulate it in interesting ways. I'd have been very happy to have seen it carried over into Civ V. That said, I...

Does anyone else think the city governor is horrible?

Remember that food gives population, and population gives science. I don't think the governor is perfect, but I think the basic emphasis on food is probably sensible. I do find myself micromanaging quite a bit however, particularly to crank out workers.

    Things you consider OP

You get so much gold from encampments that it hardly matters :) I've been disbanding units when I get into negative income, but I still make enough to support several city states.

    Longbows crush rifles

Assuming you mean the America Civil War, I agree. But I've always assumed that the Riflemen unit was meant to represent this exact tech level: breech loading rifles, capable of a quick rate of fire and accurate at range. However from a gameplay perspective I don't have any problems with it...

    Things you consider OP

Playing on Marathon length as Bismark on a pangea map, I think Germany's UA might be just a little overpowered on the longer game speeds... I've just got my second city up, and I have a horde of Brutes roaming the landscape, sacking encampments and getting gold and more Brutes. If I felt...

Even the Amazon Customer Reviews are Terrible!

Come of it, Steam is one of the less intrusive and more user friendly DRM systems out there. If you are releasing a game, and you want some form of DRM (which publishers do, like it or not) but you don't want to annoy your customers too much, Steam is the best bet.

Even the Amazon Customer Reviews are Terrible!

God those reviews are terrible. Terrible in terms of the quality of the reviews I mean :) It is literally one rant about Steam after another by people with far to much time on their hands.

    Why does everyone hate me?

Italy declared war on Germany on 13th October 1943 :P That said I've only just got the game and don't really have an opinion on the diplomacy. Hopefully there is more going on under the hood than some people fear.
