Meet the Civs - A Guide to Civ6 Civilizations (Updated 2/10/19)

By "Greek" I mean Athenian led Greece (which is the obvious assumption if Pericles is the Athenian/Greek leader). I just see a clear Peloponnesian War theme in Civ VI.

Meet the Civs - A Guide to Civ6 Civilizations (Updated 2/10/19)

Considering the Spartans wanted nothing to do with the Greeks after the Persian wars, why do people think Gorgo will lead Greece? I'm betting Sparta will be a one-city challenge like Civ that can only expand through conquest. :)

    Long Roads

Keep in mind that difficulty level has an indirect effect on how much gold you can generate in the early game. At higher levels, the AIs tend to have more gold, which, in turn, allows you to sell luxuries earlier and more often. It's not as bad as the cheese that was allowed in G&K ("Oh...

Buy "Civ: Beyond Earth" NOW or WAIT for Expansions / Fixes?

Played several games, to various states of completion, and I just can't do it any more. The game is too lifeless, the color palette is horrid, the leaders not distinct enough, the units too 'meh', etc. ... It's just hard to really care about anything that's going on in the game since everything...

    This game feels lifeless...

Can't say that I disagree with any of the thoughts in this thread. The game really does feel like window dressing, and the leaders and game play seem to lack a lot of personality. It really feels too 'genericized'--like a badly written Science Fiction novel, fraught with non-specific 'sci-fi'...

    Newbie Military Help

That's weird--cuz I flip early "covet" and "im gonna kill you cuz I can" hate all the time by using trade routes. It really does depend on the aggressor's position relative to other potential targets, however. In fact, I forward build much more now than I used to in G&K cuz I can often delay...

    Newbie Military Help

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the use of trade caravans to delay aggression from your neighbors. While it may not make you immune to being DoW'd, getting a trade route up early with an aggressive neighbor can mean all the difference as they are less likely to attack you first (provided...

Which good players are switching to Beyond Earth?

I don't know ... a fully-modded Civ V, with 150+ civs, maps, gameplay options, UI mods, etc. to choose from is really hard to beat. Don't get me wrong: Beyond Earth looks interesting, I just don't expect it to pull me away from Civ V completely. Then there's AoW3 (with newly patched...

    So long CiV

I was really close to "pulling the trigger" on EUIV during the holiday Steam sale. After watching several "let's plays" on YouTube, though, I decided to pass. It's like doing accounting work, but with a map. Doesn't look fun at all.

    SteamDB: "Bison" Depot??

A new bison resource for a scenario is cool, I guess ... even if it does scream Sioux rather loudly. Maybe there will be a Sioux scenario bundled with the old/updated scenario--making it a deluxe conquest of the new world pack. The defeat of the Sioux did kind of mark the end, didn't it?

    SteamDB: "Bison" Depot??

Does this reflect "modded" play throughs? Civ V is a highly modded game. (I know I can't play without the R.E.D. mods and religion additions.). Mods disable achievements, right?

    Beta Build Update Incoming...

Given that minutemen were fighting for independence and freedom, I'd say the golden age bonus makes sense. Have to remember the historical context, not just what they were in plain terms.

    First Settler timings

There are times when I might buy a settler, but I tend to simply hard-build them at pop 5 (after switching to full production in my city). Money is better spent on getting early libraries up and running, and sliding into an easy NC. If there is a must have spot, sure--I may buy a settler. It...
