What if...?​

Ada Lovelace was the daughter of the infamous poet Lord Byron. Her mother educated her in mathematics to ensure she could never grow up to be like her celebrity playboy of a father - but what if she had? What if Ada had embraced her father's rock-star reputation? What if she never became count of Lovelace and instead held on to her given name - Augusta Ada Byron? What if she had put her analytical mind not delving into the possibilities of the Analytical Engine, but instead into concocting the greatest party this world had ever seen?


Introduces Lady Ada Byron - a persona for Ada Lovelace, following in the footsteps of her infamous father Lord Byron.

Leader Abilities​

• Receive +2 Culture per Age for every city when you enter a Celebration. This resets at the start of each age.
• Gain Happiness towards your next celebration equal to 100% of your total Culture per turn when you complete a Culture Mastery.

Where the original Ada Lovelace creates a reward cycle between Science and Culture, Lady Ada Byron creates a reward cycle between Culture and Happiness. Happiness towards celebration is considered half the value of other yields in the standard game so the tuning here reflects that. Start biases have been provided for compensation for the relative value of happiness relative to science.

Starting Biases​

• Standard bias towards mountains.
• Minor bias towards natural wonders.

Momentos​

Momentos have been introduced and are unlocked by the Ada Lovelace progression track at the same levels as Ada Lovelace’s momentos. Playing as Lady Ada Byron should continue toward that progression track.

• Cache of Love Letters (Level 3) - Gain 20 Culture Per Age for every Culture Building constructed.
• Ada's Inkwell (Level 5) - Each celebration, gain 125 happiness towards your next celebration.
• George the Bear (Level 9) - Every time you research a Civic Mastery, the Capital gains Production equal to 25% of its cost.

• Recoloring Ada to match load screen art - and maybe more once assets can be created.

Known Issues​

• Momentos sometimes are not available
  
  I have had inconsistent results in making momentos available and unlocked. Sometimes on launch they are available, sometimes it seems like you need to load the game to remind it they should be unlock. I expect it has to do with having multiple momentos on the same reward level, but if anyone has knowledge on this I would love to hear about it.
  
  
• Culture per turn is given directly to the player instead of being associated with cities, unlike Ada Lovelace, so I can’t apply yield multipliers.
  
  Unfortunately I think the logic needed to apply these to cities consistently is hard-coded into effects built for Ada, and are difficult to apply to celebrations. Most approaches do not apply the effect to newly built cities like Ada’s ability does, so this approximation is the best I can do to my knowledge.
  
  
• The icon resolutions look terrible!
  
  It seems like the Icons are handled differently when loaded as .pngs. I have provided lower resolution assets so the game doesn’t have to crunch down the larger ones, but the city UI does not seem to request a specific size icon, and therefore always scales down the largest size. If anyone knows ways to address this let me know.
