Polo's Vertical Health Bars

Polo's Vertical Health Bars 1

Not currently compatible with mods that modify unit-flags.js , unit-flags.css, or unit-flags-independent-powers.js, such as sukritact's UI improvements - hoping to make this possible in the future.

Install (Windows):
Unzip the file and extract to \{user}\AppData\Local\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VII\Mods folder.

  • Modifies the unit health bar to be vertical and to the left of the unit flag, similar to Civ VI's
  • Makes healthbar more opaque and adds a border for better visibility
  • Enlarges healthbar for visibility
  • Stylized to match the combat preview window in the HUD
This is my first mod for the Civ series - any feedback or suggestions are appreciated. Even with the new bars - there's still a lot of clutter in the game world - so I'm sure there will be plenty of further tweaks in the future for those of us who want just a bit more visibility.

Love it! Do you plan to keep updating this given the improvements in the latest patch (1.1.1)? I do like vertical healthbars, but the horizontal ones on latest update seem fine too.
Much clearer.
This mode truly is incredible and makes things far easier to see when in war. I will have to wait until it's compatible with Sukritact's UI and Racington's Unit Icon Size Mod though to use it again. Appreciate the work on this!
This mod does wonders. It is a must have to see the actual health of your units without it being camouflaged by terrain.
Fantastic mod!
Nice! Looks much better than original.
Hands down, these health bars look great—way more visible that Vanilla—but as you note, they aren't currently compatible with other mods that touch the same files, such as the Unit Icon Size mod. Are there any plans to attempt to integrate the two? Has anyone else attempted this with any success? Playing at a high resolution and I really need the scaled unit icons, but the default health bars are practically impossible to see. Either way, great work, and I do recommend this mod to others!
There is no discussion so I wanted to post a before image for other to compare to, but I can not.
Does not seem to work alongside Racington's Unit Icon Size Mod because that mod increases the size of their emblems and thus the health bar just doesn't appear. I disabled that mod and this one worked fine though. Honestly the unit icons are large enough for me by default so I think I'll use this because it's more useful information at a glance. Thanks for making this mod.

Good call out - the Unit Icon Size mod edits `unit-flags.js` so it won't be compatible. Luckily I think some of the community is making discoveries on compatibility, so stay tuned! Hope to get it working with a lot of the other mods coming out.
This is insane, good job
