10 turns left?

When my boyfriend updated to Civ 4 1.61, when you go to create a single player game it shows in the upper right hand corner "10 turns left!" after the update. We can't figure out how to turn it off, it didn't do this before the update. Does anyone know how to make it go away? If you start a scenario or sometimes randomly in a custom world, it doesn't show the "10 turns left!".

There has already been a number of threads on this and it happens because you are using a 'no-CD' crack. The 1.61 patch can now detect this so stop using the crack...

Sorry. I've never played the game in any incarnation until recently he brought Civ 4 home, and the search function of the forum wasn't entirely helpful in turning up results regarding 10 turns.
