I have put some work into a modest idea where I make a map showing the state of the world during each leader's reign. Sort of like starting a new game, but some things are already established and you pick up history from there. I am using the default Civ 5 huge earth map but might consider changing if someone has a better choice. I will remove some mountains (the one between central and south America).
The first try is Egypt in 1303 BCE about when Ramesses II is in charge (That is his birth date, so just aiming at that time). Obviously Egypt is strong and their primary rival is the Hittite kingdom. Main civilizations planned are:
Egypt: 2 Cities, advanced, strong army, Pyramids
Hittites: 2 Cities, strong army
Mycenaean Greece: 1 city, middle advanced, small army
Shang China: 3 Cities, advanced, small army
Kuru (India): 1 City, middle advanced
Olmec: 1 city, little advanced
Mississippean: 1 city just beginning
Tichit (early mauritania): 1 city, little advanced
Briton: 1 city, just beginning, stonehenge
Now there are normally 12 civs on a huge map, so I was also thinking of one based in the steppes (like Mongolia, but much earlier). Some kind of south american civ would be good as well, but the actual Inca are much later. Maybe some proto-Incan Andean peoples? Then maybe a civ in Europe representing germanic people or italy representing proto-romans somehow.
The very hard part is my goal of 24 city states. This is hard because there is no space in the middle east to put the many that I know of. I need examples of small civilizations during the bronze age or right after all around the world. Using wikipedia (I guess) I have a partial list of some potential, but any more information by anyone with interest would be helpful.
I would appreciate any comments or suggestions. I toyed with having Babylon, but apparently it was sacked by Hittites around this time. The Assyrian empire is a touch later and hard to squeeze in the space.
Also, is there a leader that people would be interested in me doing this for? I'd like to do them all, but order doesn't matter to me.
