hello,
Using 1.17g and Mac OS X 10.1.5

Has anyone encountered the following? --

1. Erratic behaviour of turns to advance -- e.g. "Engineering (30 turns)" changes to "Engineering (2 turns)" in just one turn -- without any change in research funding.

2. You accept an offer of an advance in a negotiation, but you don't get that advance. This has only happened once, and it was an advance I was working on at the time, although no funding was allocated to research. It still said "Combustion (-- turns)" *after* another civ had given me Combustion. When I then allocated some funds, it took me 17 turns to get the advance that a civ had already given me!

A known bug? Or am I missing something?
thanks!

Democritus,

As far as #1 goes, this could be because during the AI's turn someone got that advance (Engineering, et al) and traded it to all the other civs -- the cost of researching an advance goes down with the number of other (known) civs who already have that advance.

About #2

Tech research seems to be buggy in some occasions.
Once Theory of Gravity was highlighted as if researched, but I didn't left for the industrial time, couldn't research it again but could trade it with another civ. As soon as i hit the ok button for the trade the computer crashed...

Sorry, no solution, but you're not alone :D

Thanks Sirromdivad, I had no idea that the cost of an advance was indexed to the no. of other civs that already had it -- well you learn sthg everyday. And thanks Shogoth, it does look like this needs some work -- any idea if it's fixed in the next patch?
