A Germany Mod

My first post, so bare with me....

I was wondering if anyone was going to create a mod that lets you play Germany as the Third Reich. Now I noticed that someone already mentoned this and most replies were about a WW2 mod.

I wasn't looking for a WW2 mod, I was looking for more of a fully playable Third Reich, were I can make my own decisions about war and what not.

Granted, I am a huge WW2 buff, so I prolly will start warring with everyone anyway, but I would like to do so with this mod to Germany, not as a ww2 pack.

If anyone is working on that, or can direct me to where I can find one, I would be very thankful.

I'm working on XX Century Mod now. On the 1st version there's no Third Reich (only West Germany and United Germany), but Hitler is avaliable for ruling.
Though in the 2nd version 3d Reich maybe will be.

But why are you so interested in such mod?

Many people play this game cause the like the military aspect of it.

How can you ignore one of the greatest military conquests off all time in a game like this.

I would totally like to test the AI with such a mod, be so harsh and bruital and see if the AI gangs up on me, I doubt it will, but it would be nice if it did.

I have no love for the Nazis, believe me, my significant other is jewish, but I am a history major and world war 2 fanitic and it has always been such an amazing subject for me. A single country, with no military, bankrupt, broke, no national identity, rising up in less then 10 years to be the most powerful military might on the planet and only a few steps from total victory in europe and asia....how could you not want to try and play and re-create that?

Dear Swall,

I do not mean to be a pain over detail, but as a fellow history major you must know certain facts. Such as the fact that Germany did have a military following the provisions of the Versailles Treaty. The military under the Weimar Republic was 100,000 and more importantly a reserve officer and NCO corps was formed during the inter-war years. Also, much of the german army's tactics with tanks and planes were formed during training in the USSR in the 20's under the terms of the Rapallo Treaty.

Furthermore, Germany rearmed in width, but not in depth. That means that Germany never designed a military that was akin to the USA or USSR and able to produce in quantity. The flip side is that German quality of arms in the late 1930s surpassed its adversairies and contributed to Hitler's decision to wage war while Germany held an upper hand.

The economic conditions in the 1930s were far improved from the 1920s, but rearmament was literally breaking the bank.

Germany during the 20s was a leading producer of science and culture, to say that they had no national identity is hollow.

Lastly, it is true that German forces were only miles from Moscow. But, by the winter of 1941/42 most German generals knew that the war was lost. And that no decisive battle could be won that would break the Soviets for good.

Well you've already got a UU for them-the panzer. May as well give them their own infantry too, and don't forget about the Me-262. Also, the Bismarck was designed to take any two brittish battleships at a time, but the Iowa and yamato buried it in the mud, so don't make that a UU.
Its not a bad idea but who actually play as them? Id be reluctant to play agianst them, so that might get me to assume control of the panzer myself.

When I said no national identity I meant that the people of Germany had no self identity, they were a defeated nation, and it was reflected by how easlily Hitler was able to gain control. When you're at the bottom, any promise or hope to be at the top normally makes people do crazy things (The Holocaust for example)

And Waging a war on what....3 Fronts USSR, Africa/Italy, France is utterly nuts, and the fact that germany was able to hold off the whole world against them for almost a whole year should speak bounds for their resolve.

I am in no way bashing the Germans, They commited great horrific acts and suffered. The Fact that I would like to be able to play them during their dark ages, for lack of a better term, only should prove how much I admire them as a race, during their entire histroy, not just 33-45.

You hardly hear anything about WW1 these day, its like a foot note in history, and shouldn't be, but no one makes movies or books about ww1. Everyone talks about ww2, major innovations in science were made, the world looked horror in the face on a global scale, so much changed after world war 2.

I would like to play as the Third Reich, and also, and I think would be more fun, as to play against them.

Hopefully someone will make this mod....


And for the record, I want this mod to enhance gameplay, add some realisim. I think others would enjoy defending themselves against the Nazis, they may get some private satisfaction out of it, unless they lost of course.

My favourite came concept is Civics.

I would suggest a Military civic category, which allows the player to switch between different military organization styles. Suggestions:

Nobility Officer class: happiness from military units
Professional Army: extra experience, extra upkeep cost
Conscription: can draft units
Regulated Army: extra war weariness, extra upkeep cost. (This represents armed forces of the Weimar Republic or West Germany - or any kind of armed forces regulated by an international treaty)

I would also advice you not to include religion or the Holocaust in the game. Wars can be good entertainment, genocide cannot.

Yea I agree with you there, its is fun to struggle against powerful nations. If I played against them id just have to outsmart the panzers.

True, My only interests in the Third Reich Mod is the Military aspect, as well as production and stuff,

I want to make a mod just like that .... i've already started with making the civs. And I want to go all out in making this mod (new tech tree, change the civics , only UU for all civs involved re-skinned and all, ect...).

I can handle the civs and the major part of the graphics, but I will need help to put this all together. Im good with Xml (diploma in multimedia) but i dont understand deep programing

I'm asking If there is any of you who would like to help me in making this !?!?
We all could seperate the work to make a damn fine mod.

I dunno if any of you played Axis & Allies boardgame!? But I see it as a nice basis to work on. Nice way to start the world map too!

If anyone wants to help tell me !

This would be a fascinating mod/scenario, starting in 1933.

There are a few other Europe ww2 threads, go enlist those folks in your ambitious plan. Good luck with this.

Germans never have been, are not, and never will be a race. Germans are of the human race (and middle-european subgroup or something if you want to split it up). If you say they are it doesn't make you sound much different than the nazis (no offense, just want to get your attention).
The Germans rather are of one nation (at best I guess, regarding how many kingdoms, city states, etc. existed through out the last 2000 years ). Of course the current generations consider themselves as "German" as one nationality - which is good IMO.

It would be bad if someone got in trouble because such a graphic was found on his harddrive. Better to post a link to the pics with a note what you're linking to.

I must say that some people are so uptight about that. I live in the united states and I am proud that I have the freedom of speach. I may not agree with they way some people use it, like the KKK and Neo-Nazis and so forth, but I do support the right to lets them say what they want, and believe what they believe. Its one of the things that makes this country great.

If Germany wants to make Nazi flags illegal that is their right. That woudln't fly in this country. its our right to believe what we believe and say what we say and its why its the first ammendment. For the record, I do not support nasism, or racial speach or hate speach of any kind. My only interest in this mod is for its gaming reasons.

And people need to stop being so uptight....it happened, the nazis killed millions and brought the whole world to war, pretending it didn't happen or trying to hide that fact only makes it more likley that someone somewhere will repeat it. Lets not let that happen.

Other then that, I have no strong feelings on the subject.
