A little late but perhaps still helpful. (Have been distracted a bit by civcol lately ;) will sure be back to my real favorite game soon. :D)

To let the AI at higher levels (immortal and deity) cope a bit better with getting rushed by Players (and very likely big bad monsters as well in 0.34 with the inclusion of explorable lairs) in the strategy-forum we worked out that it might be a good idea (as in: help alot) to hand the AI a unit of free Archers at the start (or maybe even as much as 2 at Deity, one for each city / settler there) to be not really more or less automatic victims of a direct early rush even with rather small investment. (Even most of the players who didn't like that proposal at least agreed that it whould go a long way in helping the AI early.)

That simple addition to the Level-dependent starting-force might go a long way in makeing those difficulties a bit harder a nut to crack and reduce the number of early untimely deaths due to dirge / guardians and the likes.

Below immortal it might feel rather way to much. Some players might not like it all by feeling that the AI cheats / is overduely given advantage to much that way.
But at immortal and deity that does sound ok as long as the AI is not fully fleshed out at least.
Regular civ has the same kind of advantage (bonus archers at the start for highest level AI) likely for the same reasons.
Perhaps even a better way to fix the very early weakness + the utter overpoweredness of warriors / especially with copper than spending a lot of time on improving the AI just for that same sake. (still sure whould be useful for lower levels.)

If you allready have something like that (or even better as usual for the FFH2-Team :)) planned for 0.34 of if Archers / Archery-Units are now improved in a way that whould make such a change feel utterly unfair and break the game there is no need of course to even mind such a suggestion. But maybe it helps / has not been taken into consideration so i decided to mention it.

The change itself should be simple enough presumably to still make it to 0.34 if liked by the team. :)
