Okay, some more trades to shed blood over! As normal, I'll post them by civilization and then give my recommendations.

Persia
Tradeable Goods:
Nothing

Trades:
None

Active Trades:
Silks (14 Turns remain)

Germany
We are currently at war with Germany, and they refused to meet us.

Rome
Trade Goods:
144 gold

Trades:
We give Engineering for 144 gold and 5 gold per turn.

Active Trades:
There Incense for our wines (8 turns remaining)
They are currently giving us 6gpt (14 turns remain)

France
[ITradeable Goods:[/I]
20 gold

Trades:
Engineering for 20 gold and 2 gold per turn

Active Trades:
They are currently giving us 4 gold per turn (14 turns remain)

------------

After looking these over, I recommend that we do no trades this turnchat.

Possible option (that ties in with both jobs of your office, Strider).

Gift Construction to Persia - this will push them into the Middle Ages, gaining them a free technology. With some luck, this will be Monotheism for Feudalism. We can then trade either Republic or Engineering to them for that tech, reducing the time to Chivalry, and the Knights Templar.

The risk, of course, is that they deem nothing we have worthwhile. I would like to see us connect another source of Wines, so that we may have further options to trade with the Persians.

We could do this during a special game session, but I think doing it as the last act of the next, regular game session will be acceptable.

Or it may just be Engineering, which forces us to sell off Engineering for cheaper than it costs.

Monotheism will be done soon, and I would also hate to see the Persians get this free. Either we'd have to buy it VIA trade (and spend even more gold), or finish researching it.. giving the AI a slight tech lead. While I doubt they will keep it, it would be a lead nonetheless.

To counter that possibility, just perform any Engineering trades we want to make before gifting Persia

Hmm, I wonder what they are researching now and how long it will take... They will get something free anyway when they discover construction.

On my suggestion to trade/gift them currency, if we go that route, I would prefer to do that AFTER someone builds the Hanging Gardens.

Persia is currently building the HG, and had cascaded to that from another wonder. The worst case (from my view) is not them getting Engineering, but them getting Feudalism and someone else building HG, allowing Persia to cascade to Sun Tzu's!

While that's not on our wonder list, I'd prefer to see any and all cascades killed in the Ancient Era, and to keep Persia from getting Barracks throughout their civilization this early.

It's a bit of a risk, but I think we should go for it.

I agree with Ravensfire's analysis of the possible wonder cascades from HG. This makes it too much a risk to gift Persia into the middle ages, though we don't know if they will arrive on their own anyway. Gifting them is much higher risk.
