...repetitive.

It is probably a terse way of describing my feelings about this wonderful game, but that is what it is. Maybe I have been spoiled by the complexity of Civilization, but I got bored after 1 week of non-stop dancing/plundering/sailing/naval battles rinse and repeat. The campaign, after a point become too much of a chore to be fun. Chasing Baron Raymondo all over the Caribbean is fun only the first 6 times..

Did anyone else feel the same about the game or am I missing something?

I believe you may have missed the point...

The concept behind Pirates is a recreation of the old Pirates PC game.
However, with the more advanced computers of today we get to see much more eye candy.
Additionally, the game has been built upon the inital game but with more of a storyline; features etc...
Remember, to properly play Pirates you must view it as an adventure with a direction, following the info received from the many AI people in the game.
The latter will allow the game to unfold in a linear manner which will continue to keep your interest since new tasks are presented.
Haplessly just sailing around looking for a fight would become very boring and repetative; that is not how the game was intended.

the same plot time after time with no chance of variation or expansion = dead game

rupertlittlebea,

I don't disagree with your view but must admit i really enjoyed the game while it lasted!
I remember playing Pirates on the Commodore 64 along time ago, the vintage game was no-different than the remake.
Although, as stated the new game has a few more added features along with a much more beautiful overall view!
The storyline remained the same, even the overall map is very similar.
My opinion, it is a fun game for everyone to play (all ages), relaxing and entertaining.

It is a fun game indeed, but I must agree that it is pretty repetitive. A few simple additions to the plotline would have made it much more replayable.

But, still, it is a fun game to play now and then, as long as you don't beat it to death several times in a row.

I agree with the original poster. "addictive but repetitive" is a very good way to describe the game.

TOTALLY agree with the poster, allhailIndia, this game is fun, pretty graphics, good idea, but thats EXACTLY the same all over, never changing!!!

Yeah, that's how I would describe it too. I remember playing it on the weekend over a year ago. It was EXTREMELY fun for a few days, but after that I completely lost interest. It was like it went from 100 to 0. Amazing amazing game before the repetitiveness gets to you, and that's because the replay value is quite low

I agree completely with the OP.

It's amazingly fun for a few days or weeks (depending on the frequency of play), but after that it becomes indeed boring.
But after collecting dust for a couple of months, I decided to fire it up again in a dull moment. I totally forgot the mechanics and the details, so it was like a whole new game for me. For now I'm having great fun with it again. Dunno how long it wil last, though...
