I am playing a prince game and have vassalized the holy roman empire. Currently they are about halfway done building the AP. My question is would you let them finish it? I have enough EP to sabotage their production and allow myself time to build the AP, but is it really worth it? We are both the same state religion so I should be able to outvote them but If I dont I am pretty sure they will be trying to get their cities back that I took with votes. Its still relatively early in the game and the penalty I would get from defying a resolution would be pretty painful. View attachment bonescorpion AD-1410.CivBeyondSwordSave

Depends, do you have any other rivals of your religion (I'm assuming the Holy Romans share yours) who are larger than you?
The AP guarantees the builder to be in all for leader votes, the builders religion (at time of building) also cements the AP religion for all time. The leader vote is between the AP owner and the civ with the largest population of the AP religion the population spot can alter over the course of the game.

If other civs of the religion are larger than you, sabotage and get it yourself, otherwise building it will likely be a waste of hammers you could use to vassalise someone else.
One thing to consider in all this though is that unless they are competing against you in a vote (i.e. you against them for leader or diplo win) then they will always vote for you.

Just think of these things when you decide.

**Edit: oops didn't see a save I'll check it now

K you may as well let him build it in my opinion, you will win control of the AP on your vote alone.
You could try spreading your religion to one city of other civs then using the AP to get a 'declare war on the infidels' vote aimed at Ghengis :D
