I am not sure if this is a graphic bug introduced by BTS or if it was already their in Warlords/Vanilla, but the search in this forum didn't show anything regarding this subject.
So here we go: The picture shows a Aqueduct leading from an island through the sea to the city. I experienced no gameplay issues with this bug (though I can't tell if the city is somehow effected, since it is not mine...maybe I should conquer it...would be a good reason to wage war :p )

Has anyone ever had simliar problems?

Oh and nevermind my screename...I just love to see dramatic names in the HoF ;)

That's a nice aqueduct! Not had that problem myself, but I have had units that walk across the water, and a general that stands in the water when his unit is attacking. Some strange stuff indeed, sadly as soon as I notice it there's no time for a screenshot.

Hehe yes those aqueduct sure can get long if they need to

I had several other collision detection errors, for example the puplic transportation going through buildings of the city.
I think it really is ridiculus how poorly the 3d engine is designed. I mean come on, other games with a much higher advanced engine have less troubles and work a lot faster then this one used in CIV. Take C&C for example or AoE. They look a lot better (nice use of pixel shaders) and run fluently on my notebook. Why is it that CIV doesn't run that smooth?
I mean I prefer CIV over all the other games, because it is so much more fun to play, but I don't think it is perfect at all and therefore I don't understand all the 5 star reviews on amazon or the gaming magazines...

So what if the aquduct steges over sea? Don't start calling the engine nams becuse of that, it's no big deal to me!
I think that it's better to be abel to see evry bilding in the city without having to enter the cityscreen(like in civ3) then that it's just made basic-style....well that´s what I think in case eenybody whants to know....

I don't know...I actually miss the city screen :p
But it is not just this. The game is now for almost 2 years out and 2 Addons has been released. When are they going to solve all the performance issues?
CIV is not an Egoshooter and therefore the engine should run a lot smoother in my eyes. I mean look at the textures and stuff like that. When I play CIV and it starts to slow down I just simply start wondering why, considering that I can play Half Life 2 on the same resolution with HDR on.
Don't get me wrong. I love CIV, but I am somewhat dissappointet with the programmers, who definitely earn a lot of money with this game.

Well...it's true I also miss the citysceen but it's also nice being abel to see all the bildings from normal mode.

About the money-grabing-not-updating gays behind civ, come on dude-it's all good!!!:D :D :D

I suppose I just have to wait for Civ 5 then ;)

this is not really a bug, the graphics for an aqueduct are designed so that it stretches out from the city. your city is on an island/peninsula surrounded by water so this is how it's going to look. this is a typical game design issue where, sure, they could bother to adjust graphics based on every possible situation that comes up, but it would be a lot more code and is simply not worth it, and it's irrelevant to the gameplay.

Well call me naive, but I already spend well over 100 € for CIV + Addons and as I said before: It works in other games.

I'm sure it isn't that hard to program...just make sure you check there's no water between the mountain the aqueduct is stretching to and the city it is coming from. If there is water (i.e. above conditional true for water present) then try a different mountain. Else, just...........Anyway, you see what I mean, it could have been avoided IMO.

It looked like a fabulous engineering feat, possibly worthy of being a world wonder. I'd pay extra for games that included such engineering wonders. I don't consider this a bug.

This could be considered another wonder, so be happy, be proud, but sorry no extra points. LOL!!!!

I got one too...
Maby there's good water on this iceland...
