ATI Radeon IGP-320M is there any hope that I can run this game?

I have a HP pavilion ze4430us laptop, with the follwing stats...

Athlon XP-M 2400 processor
512MB RAM
40 GB Fujitsu 4200rpm hard drive
Toshiba DVD/CD-RW (8x DVD, 24 write, 12 re-write, 24 read)
ATI Radeon IGP-320M (shared memory, up to 128MB)
Broadcom 54g Max Performance wireless NIC
National Semiconductor DP83815 10/100 NIC
ALI M5451 AC-Link audio
O2Micro OZ6912 PC-Card Controller

Is there any way that I will be able to run Civ 4? I loaded it, and when I try to play, the map is black, and all I can see is are the units.

If any one has any ideas/suggestions, I would be deeply grateful.

I have a copmaq presario 2500, AGP 345M and I have been working on it for 4 hours now, trying everything possible...no success...I can run the game, but I can´t see the terrain..its all black wherewere my units are.
 
I've been doing a lot or research on this, and I am rapidly losing hope.... :(
 
I have the same exact card with the same problem. What driver are you using? Mine is 6.14.10.0233. Pirates works fine. I guess the only hope is a patch. Did you try the American Revolution Scenario? I could see terrain, but it was pretty dark. Better though.
 
Yesterday I down loaded version 8.003.3-040515a-016016C
 
Actually I just looked up my driver and it says I have 6.13.10.6094, I don't know what the 8.003.3-040515a-016016C means. I'll have to update my driver as yours seems to be a higher number.

Where did you download that driver? I can't sem to find it.
 
Zapp or Titus, have you come across anything that has done the trick yet? My copy is UPSing its way to my work as we speak, but I have the same card as you guys and I am dreading that it will not work.

Have you tried any of the fixes that have been released, or did they just not work? Any advice ANYONE could give me on how to get this badboy to run on my laptop would be totally appreciated. :)

Let us know how it works on your PC, and if you come across any fixes that work.
 
Will do. I should be able to try it this evening, I will see what happens and let you guys know if I find anything that works.

Although I am about as tech saavy as a caveman. But I will try. :)
 
been trying everything what came up on these boards and more...no success
I have 3 comps and i can´t play the game...unreal
 
I couldn't tell you where I downloaded it, it's just there. I'm not having any greater success than you though. Did you try a scenario with open terrain?
 
I have the same problem (a compax nx9010 with the mobility radeon). When I ran the compatibility test on Gamespy it failed because the card doesn't have hardware T&L.

Would explain why everything's dark, at least.

Sounds to me like the only way we're going to be able to run the game is if they release a patch letting people without T&L see what's going on.

I have the same card and the same driver, while it isnt perfect the game is playable by clicking on enter world builder and revealing the map. Much easier than editing the file and clearing the chache. Finaly im playing the game 8mos. after i bought it.

They can't. T&L's required for the 3D the game uses to even run right.;)
