[beginner] what does +5 cold combat mean?

There are many different combinations on units like:
+5 cold/chaos/... combat

What does it mean exactly? Sorry if I missed it, I didn't find it through search.

5*1.5 against unit voulnerable to cold/chaos/...
5*0.5 (i think) against units resistable to cold....
nothing against unit immune to cold...

That's the basic idea, but there's varying levels of resistance/vulnerability to cold (and all elements.) It's not always 0.5 and 1.5.

Basically yeah. +5 cold is like +5 strength (so 19 +5 cold is like a strength 24 unit) - except it's not quite as good, because there are certain units naturally immune/resistant to certain elements, and there are also promotions you can take to add resistance. Vulnerability also exists, but it's much much rarer. Just think of it as +5 strength that will occasionally be reduced/ignored when fighting certain units.
