Is there anyway to escort a bomber with a fighter, or barring that, to establish air superiority over a target?

It gets real annoying to see your bombers consistently shot down and I cant figure a way to take out those enemy fighters short of taking the city.

I do not believe there is a way to escort bombers. What you can try is to send in the fighters on a bombing mission. Sometimes the bombers shoot down the enemy interceptors and I expect fighters have a slightly better chance.

Yeah that's really the only way to clear out enemy fighters. I've used this tactic many a time and it's fairly effective. If you have lost a bomber on a previous turn send in a fighter into the area you suspect is being protected by enemy fighters. Your fighters' job is to bomb a square, doesn't matter if there are any units present just improvements is fine, and if the enemy has a patrolling fighter an air to air battle will ensue.

I guess Sid never heard of all those Me-109's escorting the Luftwaffe over Britain, or the P-51 Mustangs escorting American B-17's in WWII. :(
