Hi
I really struggled to get Civ IV 1.09 up and running on my P4 3GHz, 6800GT system. In the end CTD's (or rather: A graphics lockdown) became a lot more rare, when I fiddled with the Nvidia settings and turned AA, filtering etc. off.
Then yesterday my CRT monitor died in a flash of light, sparkles and smoke while playing Civ IV <- hopefully a coincidence.
I went out and bought a TFT flatscreen, a Samsung Syncmaster 913N. And guess what? When I load up my game I'm back to the same old routine: After a turn or even less, the screen fills up with graphic garbage and the game locks on me.
There's definitely something seriously wrong with the way the game handles graphic. Or else why would a change of monitor cause a new round of CTD's?
And before you ask: Yes, EVERYTHING is updated and BF2, COD2, Il-2 all run without any problem. And yes, I have sent a bug report to Firaxis.
