Join me in wishing happy Birthday to "Xevious" who has officially passed the big three-four. Later today we'll be passing the hat to help collect for his bail money. ;)

Thanks for the birthday wishes cracker :goodjob:, and the collection ;), but what I REALLY need is job leads. :D

I got laid off in mid-August, and the job market is... well, picture an OCC challenge on Sid level... on an island, with no neighbors.

But seriously, if any of you can offer any help it would be appreciated. I was a field engineer servicing mainframes and unix servers, and I'm also good with PCs (A+ cert) and am learning programming (can use VB and learning C++). Would prefer to stay put if possible (Allentown, PA or greater Philadelphia area).

:bday:

After reading your post I just couldn't get this song out of my mind :D Hope your next birthday finds you happily employed.

Artist : Joel Billy
Album: Assorted Songs without album
Song : Allentown

Well, we’re living here in Allentown
And they’re closing all the factories down
Out in Bethlehem they’re killing time
Filling out forms
Standing in line

Well, our fathers fought the second World War
Spent their weekends on the Jersey shore
Met our mothers in the USO
Asked them to dance
Danced with them slow

And we’re living here in Allentown
But the restlessness was handed down
And it’s getting very hard to stay

Well we’re waiting here in Allentown
For the Pennsylvania we never found
For the promises our teachers gave
If we worked hard
If we behaved

So the graduations hang on the wall
But they never really helped us at all
No they never taught us what was real
Iron and coke
Chromium Steel

And we’re waiting here in Allentown
But they’ve taken all the coal from the ground
And the union people crawled away

Every child had a pretty good shot
To get at least as far as their old man got
But something happened on the way to that place
They threw an American flag in our face

Well, I’m living here in Allentown
And it’s hard to keep a good man down
But I won’t be getting up today

And it’s getting very hard to stay
And we’re living here in Allentown

Remind me to try that variant when C3C comes out. Then I'll know how you feel.

Happy birthday Xevious.
If you give up hopes of the Philly area, tell me, my Eastern Europe Monster search agent keeps finding jobs in Kosovo in all fields.
Military training is always a plus :D

Happy Birthday Xevious!

Don't bother coming over to western PA either. Things are not any better on this side. I hear Kosovo is nice in the winter...
