I actually did it, the longhouse helps a lot with the production, and you don't have to pay for using forests and jungles as city connectors, sparing me gold for upgrading units, buying units and buying resources. The way it acts like road is awesome for city connections and giving me the nice 20% production boost for railroad connections.
Hiawatha's great for production, Mohawk Warrior doesn't need iron so I can spam em, he seems fit for it.
