Is there any way to disband an unwanted/poorly place city?

I have a few cities on snow I placed to get access to some strategic resources. Now that I my culture from other cities extend far enough I wanted to get rid of these poorly placed cities.

I've looked through the forum , manual, and civilapedia and found nuttin.

Is the only way to get rid of them to give the cities away to a rival and then attack and raze them? (Can I even do it that way)

From what I have read in similar threads, no you can't disband cities like you could in CivIII. But there might be some kind of workaround, maybe someone else has an idea.

Move your troops out;

Gift it to a person you're going to war with right before you war them... Then raze it with what troops you had lying around...

I would only assume you build your own cities to the point you want to keep them all, so you only want to give up the aquired cities from war right? If so, then this shouldn't be a huge problem...

Gives you an excuse to extort them twice for peace :D

Why disband it or raze it when you could gift it to a ally or potential ally to increase your diplomatic rating with them? I always get far off cities from peace settlements and then just gift them away.

Because it's often in your way. And if it grants even an ally a strategic edge, I'd rather destoy it.
