Cannot cancel open borders

I have an open borders deal that I cannot cancel. It does not show up on the current deals screen, but the icon does show up next to the civ name with which I have the deal, and when I mouse over the leaderhead in negotiations. Have I just not waited long enough to be able to cancel the deal?

Try going to the foreign advisor to find current agreements with the leader in question. You should be able to cancel the deal there.

If you are going to war with the civ you could also try to move a unit onto a location of the civ's unit. A window should pop up and ask if you want to go to war with the civ.
