Can't download patch

After I have tried so many things to solve my sleep mode problem (whenever i try to start my game suddenly pc goes on sleep mode and freezes.) ı have also tried to download patch. Patch isn't working. even though my game is original it says it couldn't find a file etc. and can't download patch. Any body has any idea?

i mean i have downloaded the patch to my pc but when i click on it it starts on installing but can't continue. İ guess i make u misunderstood

I see. Well.

Do you happen to own a direct2drive version of Civ? (bought online and downloaded?) If so, you have to search for different patches on d2d site.

If not... try uninstalling / reinstalling the game.

BTW, what is your computer? Give us some details, at least cpu, ram, gfx card.

İ got my game as dvd nothing like downloaded.
My pc is like this :
pentium 4 gpu 2.66 ghz
512 mb ram
windows xp service pack 1 installed
nvidia geforce 6600 gt
by the way i have played the game for a long with the same pc.
Strange things is after i have formetted pc this problem starts. Whenever i try to start the game it starts till the intro movie. I can't even watch intro movie suddenly i start to see "going to sleep mode" at my screen and then pc freezes. I have installed th last nvidia driver. Stil the same. Lots of time i uninstall and reinstall the game but no chance...

Odd chance: try disabling sleep mode, under display properties -> screensaver -> power options; system standby -> never.

It's already at "never" option
I guess there is something wrong with my pc. Cause this happens after I have formatted and reinstall windows and other stuff..

Do you plan installing windows SP2?
Do you have the civ4 ini file that you can edit? (This file should be generated after first start of civ...) If so, try disabling movies (NoMovies=1).
