Cant host games or see games on Lan

For some reason i cant host any games. My internet works perfectly fine, my windows firewall is off, i have no norton or any other firewall programs, and though i am connected to a router i already opened all the ports neccessary.

This is exactly what happens:

I connect to the multiplayer, it works. I click host game, it kinda freezes up. I cant see my name on the tab where you can choose your civ. I mess around a little and then where my name is supposed to be it says connecting. I can click some things and type up stuff, but not much else. I cant exit out if i want to, it wont respond, but it doesnt exactly freeze up, it just continually loads. I left alone for a half hour, still nothing. Oh, i forgot to mention that this is for Civ 3 the gold edition

The only things I can think of is have you patched Civ3 to the latest version (unless Civ3 Gold already comes patched up to 1.27f)? You can try uninstalling/reinstalling the game, that manages to clear up problems for some people.

Already tried the unistall reinstall idea, but actually civ 3 gold comes with the 1.22 patch. I didnt realize there was one later than that, ill give it a shot and see what happens.
