Catastrophic Failure on Installation

I have seen this problem so often (32 separate members and counting) that I am making it a new thread.
You have a bad disc. You will have to return it, but be warned, some stores have multiple bad discs (current record of exchanges to get a good set = six). If you can, take a laptop with you and make them install it in-store to be sure you get a good copy.

It took me 4 exchanges, i've heard as many as six. I think three out of four are bad. It was the last one on the shelf, but it finally worked! Keep Trying
 
Seeking help with this installation error on this forum is a good and expedient thing to do, but if you have (or have had) this problem with Civ 4, then please contact Take 2's tech support and tell them directly as well.

Also, tell them how many returns you had to make before you got a working copy (if applicable), or if you ended up doing something like returning the copy for store credit.

If you call to them more than once about this problem, make sure that the support specialist knows that you've called before about this.

This is important because it helps Take 2 understand the scope of this problem.

EDIT: I had to exchange my original copy this past weekend and got a good copy on the first exchange. Great game (despite the bugs) and every bit as addictive as the original. :)
