Sorta proud of this one, although it was on a difficulty lower than I usually play (hey, I was bored but not really in the mood for a lot of micro and fierce competition)

So here's the setup: Standard, Pangea, high sea level, Prince difficulty. I am Cathy of the Russians, and my opponents (random selection) are Washington, Napoleon, Augustus Caesar, HC, Hammi, and Zara.

The results:

How it happened...
Spoiler :
well I got a great capital, and bronze was only a quick settler away (as was stone). I whip/chopped my some rax/axemen and quickly hunted down the closest AI, Napoleon (hadn't gotten archery yet), while reseaching toward masonry. Once masonry was in, research went to 0% as I bore down on Augie with some hardened axemen. Augie had already managed to get archery and three cities, but some lucky wins kept my forces strong, and AC fell without too much issue.

The GWall went up just as barbs started breathing heavy down my neck. Horses came online around then to get a few chariots into the mix. Started building settlers in Paris and Rome, chopped them with kidnapped workers, and boxed Washington into his little peninsula while my seasoned axes and shiny new chariots rolled on to Incan lands. HC's two cities fell quickly, despite him having archery as well... no doubt he wasted his hammers on some early wonder or another. A quick healing session later -- and with a GG to join the crowd -- I marched on Babylon. The battle was bloody... Hammi had gotten his Bowmen up and running :( however it looked as though barbs had given him some grief (he only had two cities) and my axes were high on XP. He fell, but my offensive was officially kaput, and my economy was so far in the red my units would be disbanding soon. Fortunately, Zara and Washington were confined and phase three of my evil plans began --

SETTLER RUSH! kekekekeke ^_^

Some careful settling to avoid barbs, some patience and careful diplo with Washington, and VICTORY!:trophy::w00t:

I remember being told that great generals don't disband during strike.
Unfortunately I found out THE HARD WAY that GG is not the same thing on paper as a GG who is a Hero.

Yep, settlers don't disband and every city is allowed one garrison unit, as long as the garrison stays in the city. So once cities hit size two I was whipping a warrior or axe for defense and to keep my power rating up so Washington or Zara didn't get any ideas... not that I had any hopes of stopping an invasion if they'd tried :p
