When playing in a team with a CPU, I noticed that the little prick automatically received 10 hammers in his main city, meaning the hooker could make his first unit very fast. After that, I started a round vs one CPU, placing numerous spies on his settler by going to World Editor. Strangely, he could see my spies, seeing as how the cheater could contact me. But, he too gained those 10 free hammers. Is there a way I could get those free hammers, or should I crush the appendixes of those computers, burning their cut-out throats afterwards?

You could also try turning the difficulty down. On anything past noble, the AI will be able to cheat.

Hmmm... I tried it on Noble. The AI's are also on Noble, so in my opinion, that would mean that I would get exactly the same thing as the CPU's get. So they're cheating.

They're not cheating, they just have a slight advantage. Just wipe the floor with them anyway :p

that's exactly it.
Cheating would mean they actually think.
But they don't.
They are programmed to offer a fun challenge to the human player.
If the AI was cheating, he would rush you with his free archers when all you have is a scout!

There's a nice point of view. I'm a bit relieved though. It seems that the AI's just have a better start. I have a better end, seeing as how I end up in Modern Times while the AI's are still in the end Medieval Times. :P

Whew!

The AI in CIV4 isn't as cheaty as in previous Civ games. I remember conquering AI cities, and having to starve the population down to half what it was, as the AI would get free unsupported population.
