You can´t use the graphics from harlan´s collection directly, because the file has not the same layout as the standard civ2 cities.gif.

You need a graphics software to copy the city graphics you like from Harlan´s collection, then paste them into the standard civ2 cities.gif (or in the cities.gif of a scenario). If you are not familiar with such things, most graphics editors have detailed helpfiles which should explain these things...

It took me a few weeks to figure everything out, too. I suggest you use JASC Paintshop Pro or Corel Photopaint. Otherwise the gif-format will be invalid.

Here is a hint: make sure you save using GIF89a format.

This is important or you are going to have difficulty. Always keep backups of your orginal files handy and don't save over them. This is a just a hint so you don't pull your hair out and bang your head against the computer.

Hey, I was wondering...what does:

Concordia res parvae cres****.

mean...

Hakan used to have a couple latin phrases out there...and he used to tell what they meant...

I'm not an archer here, I see.

Concordia es parvae cres**** means something like Union makes Power. Translated in to Dutch it is:
Eendracht maakt macht.
That translated in to English:
Eendracht=Unity
maakt=makes
macht=power

"United we stand."

It means, "When we stand together, we are strong"

It was used during the 80-year war, the independence war of the Dutch against the Spanish. All the provinces had to stand together so they could resist the Spanish and be free.

Thanks for the translation, that is really cool.

I think that was an interesting but harsh time period for your country...(the Spanish didn't take that defeat very well)...but hey...what can you say.

When you finish ST
