Civ 4 can't DVD ? help

[Help!!]

have just got my new Civ 4game and it does not work ass i thought it would be like quake 4 so i installed the patch and it still can't find the dvd dive the drive is set to D:\ still nothing.
the game installed ok.

any body with a fix for this one please help

P.S. i have run the diag.exe and that don't work either does this mean i need to reinstall windows ?

the diag.exe has now come up with a log file is there some where to send it ?

If the game has been installed, and the patch has been installed, what is the problem?
Doesn't the game recognize the CD/DVD? In this case, check if you have any CD/DVD-copy programs installed and remove them. Seems to be a "feature" of the copy protection of Civ4.

thanks for trying to help but the game does not find the DVD, it installed ok as did the patch i was hoping the patch would sort things out but no.

You may be trying to use the "play" disc to run the program. If so, try inserting the "install" disk, and reboot. Then select "play" from the menu which will appear.

the civ game i have got only comes with as a dvd and no other disk is in the box?

the sd4hide.exe does not work unless you have to reboot your system

Hi my copy of civ 4 is a dvd as well the drive will not see the disk at all its the same on my desk pc and lap top the worst 30 quid I have spent ever I will never buy another pc game from now on I will stick with x box or playstation games!
Just a follow my retailer will not refund me or swap for diff product b cause I may have copyed the prog thats rich I cant get the bstd to run let alone copy it cheers chris the madaxeman axeman59@msn.com

yeah i know what you mean it wont even install on my laptop but im glad i did not pay the retail price for it only £20.00 off amazon.

thats three games in a row now that have the same problem only one has been fixed with a patch.

Just an after thought here ?? i installed the game and tryed to play and no good i knew there was a patch out there so i installed the patch 1.52 does that patch include all of the first patch as i did not install that.

any ideas on that one

should i uninstall the 1.52 and install the 1.09 and then install the 1.52 on top??

so most of the hardware in this PC is intergrated but i have just installed Civ on there and it bloody works go figure that one out.
