Civ 4 on your Mobile Phone

I have maintained since Day 1 that Civ 4 would be PERFECT on the Nintendo DS (give it Civ 3 graphics) -- you can even do Expansions with the Gameboy slot. Cell phone, on the other hand, sounds like it'll be lame.

Maybe the AI calls you when it wants to demand something or wants a trade!

I imagine it will be dumbed down to the point of not resembling the game at all myself. There's a version of Oblivion for mobile phones too.

Only if you had the Mushroom Kingdom as a Civ. The bottom screen is the only one with touch sensitivity though.

EDIT: Mushroom Kingdom could have some interesting GPs too. Mario and Luigi as Great Engineers (well they are plumbers), or they could be Great Merchants because they seem to collect a lot of coins. Bowser as a Great General. Toad would probably be a Great Scientist. Miyamoto would be a Great Prophet.

Hey I mentioned Oblivion in my post too. It looks just the same as the XBox 360 version to me. And "over 10 monsters"... wow.

I expect the NPCs will still say stuff like "Goodbye. (pause 3 seconds)... Well met!" though. It probably won't crash as often either.

Ha ha... Thunderfall just posted a news announcement. Somebody IS actually going to do a mobile version of Civ 4...

That's awesome! I really hope they make a a Pocket PC Windows Mobile version also. The company Filao has already done that for Age of Empires Gold Edition. It's amazing to me how they've been able to scale down games like Syberia to fit on the limited memory of a Pocket PC and still be as good as the desktop version.

I think that Civ IV with it's turn based system would be even more awesome!

Perhaps Civ IV could be developed for the PSP as well. I don't have one of those, but there might be a market for that if it can be implemented.

WHAT! $30 dollars for a mobile phone game!? it would want to be pretty damn good

Yeah, it's pretty crazy how pricey Pocket PC games are compared to mobile phone games. I don't like to buy those without a good discount coupon. What drives me bonkers about mobile phone games is when they charge a subscription fee for a game instead of letting me buy it outright. I'd rather pay the slightly higher one-time fee for a mobile phone game than to pay again and again every month.

Shows how powerful phones are getting these days. I might have to trade in my by PC for the latest Nokia.

Civ I again?
I thought that thing was dead.
Phones are not powerful enough to handle all the processing.
Maybe in a couple of years. So don't hold your breath

By the way, the mobile phone version of “Civilization 3” already exists:

In fact, this game is nowhere as complex as Civ 3 and is much more like Civ 1. Maps are not randomly generated and there are only two to choose from (a ‘small’ and a ‘large’ one). There is no discernible AI: the program blindly founds cities at regularly spaced intervals and generates waves of mounted units (first chariots and then knights) that go kamikaze on your spearman fortified on hill. There are no leader heads, no diplomacy, no space race: you win either by conquest or else by discovering ‘Democracy’.
