Civ 6 Fails to Launch

As the title says the game just plain will not launch.

I stopped playing for a about a month and tried to fire the game up yesterday and now I've spent 6-8 hours just trying to get it to work.

After I press the blue play button in Steam I will get a black screen like it is trying to load and then I'll get a Firaxis crash reporter and then Windows will tell me the program has stopped working.

I have updated everything, uninstalled and reinstalled, removed all mods, disabled windows defender.

I am getting really fed up with this because I haven't seen this same problem described anywhere.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm having the exact same problem after having not played for a week. Only thing that changed is Nvidia driver. Gonna roll it back. and see what happens.

Nvida has a hotfix for the driver, 384.80. game now opens. Have to go to Nvidia driver forum.

So I ended up doing a complete clean install of my Nvidia driver and it ended up working.
