Does the number of enemy civs affect your score at the end? I know that it doesn't show any points added to your score at the end, or at least I don't remember it, but your difficulty adds to your score "behind the scenes," so I wondered if number of civs had anything to do with it either.

Thank you, Ali. You have been most helpful in my understanding of the game, and answered multiple questions I have had. I appreciate it!

Lol, most of the GOTMs are at diety level, and I am still working at Prince, but after some more practice of all the skills I've learned here, perhaps I'll try my hand.

Most games are not at deity, but most of them are at higher levels. We get a good deal of emperor and king games. Prince and warlord are less frequent, but we have played them. I do not recall ever seeing a chieftain game.

All of us were novices when we first joined, even those of us who used to win the game consistently and thought we were really good.

ok, so how do i get into gotm? I've seen the logs, and didn't understand some of it. is there a thread for gotm?

Yes. I'm surprised you didn't see it. This forum [Strategy] is the second one under the Civ2 group, and the GOTM forum is the last one. You'll see a thread there, near the top, labelled something like "GOTM 85". From that thread you can download the latest 4000BC save and start playing the Feb 2008 GOTM.

You don't really have to tell anyone about your game, but it's more fun when people share their tales. If you ask stuff, people will usually explain things. Also, you can also submit your finished game to the moderator, to have a chance for a medal. Even if you don't win one, you have supported online Civ2 by participating.

Well, as time permits, I will try to get involved. I do school and work full time, but I always thought gotm was kinda out of my league. I would love to improve and get advice about what I could do better, etc. I love this game!!
