I am having problems running Civilization 2 on Windows XP. I have a very old copy of CIV 2, not TOT, Call to Power, or Civ 2 Gold.
I do have the 2.4.2 Version of the game.
The CD Installs just fine, but when I click on the game to run it I get two Error Messages in a Row.
The first:
File Error: Cannot find COMMCTRL.DLL
The Second:
File Error: Cannot find DCIMAN.DLL
Both of these error boxes only give you the option to close.
After you close these error boxes, a third message comes up. It says:
Can't Run 16-bit Windows program.
! Cannot find file C:\MPS\CIV2\civ2.exe (or one of its components). Check to ensure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are avaliable.
This box has only an OK button.
Once you click that you go back to the desktop.
I am assuming that there are two .DLL files that I am missing with XP, I have tried to find them online, but cannot. I have also tried all of the compatablity modes on XP (95, 98, ME, 2000) and nothing changes the above results.
Anyone have any suggestions????
