Hello all, I am stuck on the tutorial of civilization 4, I believe there is something wrong and that I'm not stupid, atleast I hope not so if anyone could help please.........

I have gotten until building the obelisk and then sid says to double click on the city screen but first you have to move your scout onto a trible village apparently, I have been to 2 tribal villages so far and there is not another in sight, however the tutorial is demanding that I move my scout to the tribal village and I cannot do anything else.

I agree that the tutorial sucks, but it gives the very basics necessary to start playing the game...
I think you may have done somthing out of order. Dunno. Try restarting the tutorial, or just skip it and go for a map on Settler level.

There is a few things I wish to learn from that tutorial which would help me in my own game and I have tried restarting it but I still see no settler, maybe someone could try and do the tutorial and tell me where the tribal village is? Or where you move the scout too?

I loaded up the tutorial but I didn't have the same problem as you, Sid showed me the city screen and told me to build a worker while I explored the map looking for another tribal village. He told me that you have to look for the third tribal village.

Restart the tutorial. Or just play a map on settler and follow all the recommendations.:king:

Is it all too complicated for you to learn on your own? :S

I know that when I started playing Civ3 I looked past the tutorial and just played a long and fun game. What I suggest is to explore other means of playing the game other than the tutorial.

Civ3 is very basic and that's why it was fun for me...... with Civ4 I really feel like I am the leader of a country as a full-time job (which is NOT fun for me). There's just too much stuff in civ 4...... too many units, too many resources, too many bonuses, too many techs.... and BTS even more sh!t? Apparently i'm not the hardcore strategizer I thought I was. I've been playing civ3 the past few weeks and it reminded me why I thought Civ was fun in the first place. Civ4 is just tedious..... I dont have 8 hours a day to throw into this damn thing

Civ 4 is complicated, and I'm no master strategist either. I'm playing on Noble level and winning is beyond me at the moment. Yes there are so many aspects I'm not really capable of being at the top of the tree in all areas. However I'm ok, I know the basics (specialise cities, good diplomacy with powerful neighbours, healthy bank balance etc etc) Of course I setout to win and play as well as I can but I can still enjoy it even if I don't win. It's the cjhallenge and the things you learn that are enjoyable to me. I think my main problem is that I don't set a specific winning goal. I tend to be successful in a few areas rather than aiming for one specific goal.

There are some very knowldgeable people on here with some great tips, however I think some people are born with the ability to be good at these games.

Merry Christmas!:)

Many thanks for all your feedback, I do know the basics but I just want to complete that tutorial once just to make sure I have not missed anything but I am sure there are other tutorials on the net, I just want to know how to use the city screen properly as it looks rather complicated.

The turtorial is lame. I beat it, but it really didn't teach me as much as reading this site and playing some games on settler.

CivFanatics+Settler Games=Knowledge and Skill

I have three words of advice for you.

Its really the only way to stay competitive with the AI on the medium-upper levels.
