(CONFIRMED) Marathon/Espionage Bug

I'd just scale the time in the same way it's scaled now. The important changes would be (a) the cap of city size, and (b) the half food from granary when city loses a pop point. The combination of the two would change the mission from being potentially devestating to inconvenient.

Oh, and in case I didn't mention it - subsequent missions could not raise the unhealthiness above the city's population, they'd just "reset" the mission. So you'd never have more unhealthiness than you had population, even if it was spammed.

If you would have an unlimited amount of food (very large city, completely filled storage is close), then the 20 food poisoning would destroy 210 food (sum of 1 till 20) while the 10 food poisoning would destroy 55 food (sum of 1 till 10). It's really not linear, it's almost quadratic.

Actually, since the food loss for an n strength poisoning is given by n*(n+1)/2 = 1/2 n^2 + 1/2 n, it is quadratic. :)

I didn't check it, so I didn't want to make a too strong statement, but you're right. :)

This can't be balanced for all game speeds by a simple xml-edit. Furthermore, people are not in agreement how it should be balanced. That is always a problem with unbalanced elements in a game, you will never get everyone to agree on what is the perfect way to balance it.

I've personally changed the no of unhappiness from 8 to 3. On marathon this gives 9:p for 9 Turns. On normal this would give 3:p for 3 turns, but I only play at marathon so.....

Anyways 9:p for 9 turns isn't really enough, but its not abusable and its not completely broken as current. The file to be changed has been pointed out in above posts. There's no real need to copy it first, as long as you remember you changed it from 8, and that's the number to change it back to.

Edit: Bah, forgot to point out, if you don't first copy it to custom assets, then you won't be able to play MP games, but who wants to anyway.....(ducks from the MP communites wrath) :mischief:
