Corruption and life on a Mac

I run Civ3 on a G3 under os 9.2.

I want to try playing a game where massive expansion is possible.

I can't run the new editor. I have a laptop PC but for the life of me I can't find a copy of the v1.21 editor.

Could someone point me in the right direction, or send my way, a scenario where corruption is considerably less?

I would be very grateful.

Fuel for thought.

I apologize if this post seems redundant. I have searched for days trying to find a mod that will do what I want.

The editor was built for OS X only. Check out eBay for 10.1 or 10.2, or buy it new from Apple. I have 10.2 using a G3 also, so you'll be fine if you have the RAM (min. 128 MB).

I should have been more specific.

I would rather avoid upgrading to 10.2 unless I absolutly have to.

Thats the crux of my problem.

Someone out there in the MAC world has played a mod with low corruption, right?

You could do what I do - have 10.2 installed on your hard drive and use it only for running the editor, but keep 9.2 installed and use it for everything else. Installing 10.2 in no way prevents you from booting into 9.2 for 99.9% of your time.

fuel: try the Imperialism map from Firaxis's Civ3 site -- download and place in Scenario folder, etc. Also, the 'player1 mod' has some interesting variations and cost reductions that offset late-game corruption (Armies are much cheaper, for instance). [I checked, both are available, 'Imperialism' is on p.14 of the Map downloads, 'player1' is in the Mod downloads]

In 'Imperialism', there is less overall corruption because all of the initial play occurs in one hemisphere and expansion can only take place into the other hemisphere when you discover Astronomy/Magnetism. Then the fun really starts as you compete with the other civs -- and hordes of Barbarians -- for the lucrative resources needed in the Modern era.
