Okay, here it is. I have uninstalled, then reinstalled CIV IV and BTS. Patched it to 3.19. Downloaded and installed FFH2 .041d. Patched it to 'g'. I can start a custom game, with advanced start, and get through the first 'turn'. In the second turn (turn 1), the game will crash. I have movies turned off, all animations set to low, and the resolution at 1680 X 1050. I am running on Vista Home Basic. I have an ATI Radeon 9550 with the latest drivers. Can someone PLEASE tell my why this game keep crashing?

BTW, it used to work. I stopped playing it about a month ago, and just came back to it. In the interim, I updated my video drivers. That's the only thing I can think of.

Add-on - I tried playing with just 'Play Now', and it crashed in the first turn.

Hmm, strange. Please answer these questions for me:

A) If I understand correctly, you were playing FfH2 but took a break. During that break you updated your video card drivers. Then you returned to play FfH2 and found that it was crashing, so you reinstalled and repatched Civ4 and reinstalled and repatched FfH2 but the crashes persisted. Is that accurate?

B) When FfH2 was working previously, were you playing at that resolution or did you change resolutions as part of the driver update?

C) When you start a play now game, when exactly does the crash occur? Before you can see the map and your units, before you get control of your units, before you can end your turn, or when you end your turn but before the next turn begins?

A) That is accurate.

B) As far as I remember, that was the resolution. Before I did the reinstall/repatch, it would crash right after loading until I changed the res and disabled movies. Edit - Tried it at a different res, still crashed.

C) When I start a play now game, the game will start, and sometime in the middle of the first turn it will crash (usually after I move my first Scout).

It sounds like the drivers are the problem. There may be something in the FfH2 art that isn't present in the regular Civ art which is triggering the crash. Uninstall the drivers you installed and reinstall the version you were using before. If you're not sure which drivers you were using previously then look for the most recent WHQL certified drivers that were released before you took the break from Civ.

That's not much of a suggestion. Doing a work-around on the driver incompatibility of the graphics in FFH2?

I would recommend that a bug be submitted about the graphics incompatibility with the new driver for your Radeon card.

Before submitting a bug report to ATI it would be a good idea to actually know that there is a bug. Until he tries rolling back to the older driver we don't even know for sure that the driver is the cause. If it does fix the problem for him then someone else would need to confirm the problem by updating to that newer driver to see if they also experience crashes.
