I am enjoy making randomized worlds on civ 2 but i am confused by what the difference in the options are. What difference does the age 3,4,5 billion years or the warm or cool temp make. This may have been in the instruction booklet but i never had on. Thanks for anyone who can clear this up for me.

These options customize what terrain will be produced. I think that an older world will have more hills and flat land, where a younger world will have more mountains.

The colder climates will have more ice, and pine trees while the warmer climates will have more desert.

You can try using the different settings, then toggle the cheat mode and look at the entire map to see the effect. When you have found the setting you like, generate the map and play (I wouldn't really want to play on a map when I know where everything is).

I figured that out today after reading you question as I almost never play in random worlds.....
