Hi,

Believe it or not. My Civ III CD-Rom is scratched. It will not install in full install, it fails on intro.bik (or similar filename) after a long wait and does a full roll-back. I have to do a minimum install.

Then, it refuses to recognise the disc as a Civ III Cd rom about 40% of the time. Not too much of a problem as I just run off the Conquests CD ROM, but, should I rebuild my machine again in the future, and the disk fail to install, I'm a bit screwed.

I've downloaded a warez archive of the iso for the cd, but this is not recognised without a no-cd patch. Then of course I have to try and find one that is for the appropriate patch of civ III. Which I can't.

So I'm a bit annoyed, and slightly worried that one day I won't be able to play at all. At least on the latest patch level...

Does anyone know if there is a way to get a replacement media from fireaxis or anyone? This is the second copy of the game I've bought (after I got rid of the first copy a couple of years ago then decided I wanted to play again, finally tracked down a copy for £30 about 2 weeks before the gold bundle with ptw came out, then bought conquests a bit later after that I really don't want to buy it AGAIN...)

Cheers,

I think if you contact Firaxis with proof of purchase they should be able to send you a replacement disc for like $2 or something (as is my experience with other games), but I've lost my manual so I can't confirm that :(

If you can't get a replacement disc, try this website:

They are selling vanilla civ3 for £7.99 plus postage.

I'm sure there are other places selling it for around £10 too.
