DataIO system operation Error: TILE

I thought that Gramphos' utility was the Savdiag.exe. LOL

So when everyone was telling me to use that program to fix my Save. I was like, "it does nothing. How this suppose to fix it?"
But now that Knightfall68 posted that link to all the Save Editor or Gramphos Utility I understand what you were all saying.

Thanx for all your help. Now I can play on. :goodjob:

Tell me, is there any other cool Civ3 editors that you all find helpful or fun? Let me know.

Thanx again

hi could u guys please help me can one of u guys fix my sav i would be very grateful thanks in advance oh BTW i have not got the latest patch well not yet anyway i have to take it slow thanks to my internet provider

is anyone working on m save file i just want to know thats all

Sorry...I was hoping Gramphos would be able to help you.

I downloaded your save and ran it through his Savediag, and the results were kinda weird....it didn't tell me conclusively what to look for.

When I run it on my previous one I get:

Error: TILE. (Found:0x454c4975) (uILE)

so I know to search for uILE in the hex editor.

When I run it with yours, I get:

Error: TILE. (Found:0x0) ()

So it doesn't say what to search for or even give a hex address...I believe the Savediag was designed for 1.16f....is that what your save is?

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

thanks anyway the version i was running at the time was the version that came with the game inother words the first version i just updated to 1.17f about a week ago

Hi,
I've experienced many of the problems with my saved games as others who have written here.
I have tried to follow a couple of the solutions posted (Gramphos' diagnostic tool, hex editors and C3MT Multi Tool) however I am a newbie with these sort of things.
I am running version 1.17 of Civ III, and all my save games are from games started after I installed this patch. Every time I try to load a save game I receive a message saying TILE error.
I have run Gramphos' diagnostic tool and received this diagnosis
0xffffffb0.
Next to this, in the second brackets was I think some ASCII ? and I can't replicate it here, as I don't know the key functions to bring up the characters ( I told you I was a newbie).
I have also received the DATAIO CITY error, described on this page by Bio Weapon) on other save games.
I have downloaded both Hex Workshop 3.1 as well as C3MT Multi Tool, but I was fooling myself thinking I could work it out.
The funny thing is, my Autosaves work fine. So I used to just put up with the problem and just reload my autosaves when my normal saves reported these errors. However my roommate played a game on my machine the other day, and now my trusty autosaves are gone!! (Note I haven't altered my save game names)
If someone can either help me fix my save game file or exlain in really simple English for a dummy like me how to use the various tools to fix it, I would be most appreciative.
Thank You
