will you be able to host a game with your own dedicated server for LAN play. In battlefield 1942 there was a server option in which you could use your own dedicated server to host the game for both internet or LAN play. This feature greatly improved gameplay, reducing lag and what not.

I don't think you're asking the question you think you're asking, especially with regard to dedicated servers. But anyway, the answer currently is probably we don't know.

Yeah dedicated servers would be great. They run smoothly and are very attractive to gamers who like to LAN which is great for civ especially if you've got a bunch of friends together so you can discuss strategy in person.
