does owning the atari version of civ3complete affect downloading maps etc

because its been about 2yrs since I got it I igonored but everyone seems to be making great maps so when i try to download a map or something after its done I click on the file in the window and it says INCOMPATIBLE WITH CURRENT VERSION or and COULD NOT READ ifs its the version I have tell me I should get a different one or tell me what really my problem.

There are no other versions than the one published by Atari... If it's a Conquests file then open it with Conquests

yes there are I looked at rhe the store the other day and ensted of atari 2kgames
