This is an attempt to start a PBEM with Double your Pleasure scenario. My first attempt was 'The Cartel' which turned out to be a flawed idea.

Since Patch 1.27f (Please correct me if I am in error) is generally not available for non-US versions of the game, we will be playing on patch level 1.21f . This means we will also be playing on the previous level of DyP 1.05x (versus the recently release 1.50x).

Game Specs:
3 or 4 human players
Standard or Large Map
Barbarians - to be determined
Pangea or Continents
* No Accelerated builds
* PTW 1.21f
* DyP 1.05x

All the Specs except the last three (with *) are negotiable for those who want to participate. I expect this to mainly be a 'builders' type game due to the features of DyP. Thanks.

P.S. Sir Eric - Sorry it took so long to put this back out. I hate it when work distracts me from Civ3 :)

It is my understanding that 1.27f has been released internationally after correcting an initial problem.

DYP 1.50 is not compatible with 1.05 (in my experience). I'm already in a couple of DYP PBEMs and they're both using 1.5, which I believe is indicative of the larger community. We all want the latest games, so why wouldn't the DYP community already have migrated to the latest version?

I'd also suggest that you poll your players' locations and run the turns from east to west, chasing the sun. This seems to work more efficiently than trying to set the order to a schedule agreed before the start which is inevitably in tatters within a couple of weeks.

That said, if you'd like to host a 1.27f/1.5 game, I'd be happy to sign on as the Tibetans.

Playboy, thanks for your input and welcome to the game if we do play 1.27f/1.50x. I was just concerned that the non-US players would be excluded if the patches don't match. Plus I should make the admission that I have never played DyP at the 1.05 level. I only discovered DyP a couple of weeks ago when 1.50 was released. So it would be much easier for me to play 1.50 since I wouldnt have to unlearn anything. :)

What I really like about the DYP version change is that while much of the mod is familiar, there are significant differences from 1.05 which keep the game fresh and exciting. For example, in 1.05 you have to research trqade before building roads, while in 1.5 they are availible at the start. It's kind of like Magic: The Gathering when one expansion is rotated out of the Type
II class and another is brought in.

You can send my turn to: mmcauliffe at pclv dot com. I live in Las Vegas, NV.

That sounds fine to me. It could take me a while to get things going, I am at work now for the next several hours. Plus I need to set up an e-mail account you can send your saves too. I normally use hotmail for everyday e-mails, but since I don't pay, my space is limited.

We need to also figure out some of the details. Regent is about as difficult as I am comfortable with with reg PTW. I assume we would either play random map (Standard or Large) or the Large (not Huge) Earth Map that is set up for DyP.

Barbarians - Roaming, Sedentary, other - whats your preference.

I would probably play Germany or Mongols. If your Tibet and were on an Earth Map, I'll probably play Germans to give you some breathing room :) . And if we do play Earth, we probably need to decide on the other 6 civs to keep the Americas, Australia, and probably the Polynesian Islands up for grabs. No since finally getting there and finding the Americas knee deep in Incas and Aztecs.

Also is there a victory condition you prefer or absolutly would want removed. I am fairly comfortable with all.

Thanks.

On second thought, I think the Barbarians are preset and not configurable on the Earth Maps for DyP. So give me your input on the Map part first and then Barbarians.

Well, if we're playing on Earth, I would take the Egyptians for a better start position. I imagine that Tibet would be located in the Himalyas, hardly a location to foster rapid growth. You could then take the Mongols to allow initial growth room.

My suggestions for the other six:
France
India
Russia
Zulu
Japan
Polynesia

Barbs roaming
Large earth is fine if you can play more than 1 turn per day.

Otherwise, if we want to generate a world, I like 'em hot, wet & young.
