DVD-drive unable to read the DVD, plz help

My DVD-drive seems to be unable to read the DVD at all. When I put the dics inside it starts acclerating and declerating, as if the dics was full of errors. I've tested the dics and there are no errors on it, and I don't think the problem has anything to do with any of my software since if I try to boot with the dics on the drive BIOS gets stuck to "booting from CD/DVD".

Has anyone else had this problem and been able to solve it, or has anyone any good suggestions what should I test?

I had the same problem, so after a suggestion here tried just leaving the disk in the drive for ages & after about 15 - 20mins it suddenly recognised it and installed fine. However, every time I want to play I have to go through the same recognition process
