So is there still no way to edit a map you are playing on or from a saved game? I really don't want to create a map and then use the same map over and over, I'd just like to occasionally tweak the terrain of the random map that loads.

In the main within_gameplay_Menu, you can always save the map itself by clicking the provided button in the Saves/Loads section. This map will then be ready for some editing by WorldBuilder if you load it from the ..\MyGames\Civ5\.. folder. Afterwards, it can only be re-used for some new games, though.

But there's no actual direct stock-official "savegame" editor (that would certainly be equal to purely cheating in fact) -- yet!

Editing the map is cheating, I suppose, but I would rather do that then start the game over and over till I get a decent spawn point. Besides, if you really want to cheat the best way to do that is use the Firaxis Live Tuner. With that you can just plop resources or units anywhere you want and have a merry old time.

No I like Civ IV where I could add a river or get rid of deserts if I was surrounded by nothing but inhospitable terrain. Maybe I should just stick to playing that for a while then till someone comes out with a way to mod the maps while the game is being played.
